Simon Cowell to leave "American Idol" after Season 9

LOS ANGELES: In a blow to Fox network, British tabloid The Sun
has reported that "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell will be
quitting the top-rated TV talent show when his contract ends in
2010. The 50-year-old music executive has been with the show since its first season in 2002, but his contract expires after the end of Season 9, which starts in January and ends in May 2010. Known for his blunt, acerbic and often controversial criticisms, his fame and reputation grew with the success of the Idol franchise worldwide. Cowell, who is also the executive producer of "America's Got Talent", has hinted at being bored with his role as the talent judge in the past. - CNA/so |
