So recently, NYP held their annual band competition, Bandzout,
which is open to NYP students only. This being my last year in the
school, I decided to form a band with some friends and enter the
competition just for shits. The auditions were held last Sunday at
Beat Merchants with judges from Suicide Solution, Autumn Atlantic
and Cotton Island who were deciding our fate whether we'll be going
through to the finals. We played Like Light to the Flies by Trivium
and thankfully, the judges were impressed by our performance
despite our lack of practice on the song.
The finals was held yesterday at NYP's Amphitheatre or 'Dome' as
known by many. Five bands made it to the finals including mine,
Riding Shotgun. We were the last to perform so, we sat and
watched the rest of the bands play. Most of them played more
radio friendly music with In the Shadows by Story of the Year
being the heaviest song the audience had seen so far. Once our
turn came, the four of us went down, plugged in our equipments
and without hesitation, played our songs. The link to the video
of our performance is right below. Sound quality ain't good
though
To our surprise, we actually managed to top the ranks, making us
the winner of Bandzout 2010. Hahah
