Here's how to be the winner:

1. Create a post in the forum under the Big Night Out 2010 Contest Thread about anything relevant to Big Night Out 2010! (e.g. An article, video of a band, video created by yourself, or anything at all as long as you can justify how it is related to Big Night Out 2010!) Forum Thread here.

2. The post that receives the largest number of responses (excluding yourself and excluding repeat posts from the same user) will walk away with the tickets!

3. Should there be a tie, the winner will be drawn randomly between the tied contestants.

4. Multiple entries are allowed! Why not right?

5. The organizers reserve the right to disqualify any contestant should there be a case of creating multiple accounts or other forms of being unfair.

Contest will close on 10th Jan 2010 12am Server Time. What a better way to start the year? =)

"I like how they update with us with all the music or Gigs that will happened here in Singapore.. Even before the press release it."

"The forum. It is way under utilized by its users and hence lacked the ability to establish itself as a place for interactivity and the exchange of information."

"1. Videos too cluttered, the more 'commercialised' videos (which can be found easily in youtube or official websites) shouldnt be uploaded to the website (unless needed for articles etc) so that the more exclusive videos can be found more easily (can administer the browsing of the videos page more conveniently).  2. The slow bandwidth can be improved to make surfing the website a more pleasant experience."

"Not much updates on the local scene here. Forums are quite dead since lesser people know about this site"


Question 8: In what ways can Live4MusiC do better?

"Improve video and sound quality. Increase marketing for your website."

"Include a "Local Bands" section that can update the viewers with the band's press releases, upcoming gigs, album launches etc (band interviews could be done too!). This can give some exposure to the local bands as well as allow the viewers to know more about the local music scene. Its not as dead as it seems."

"Probably set up an emailing service that helps to inform if any of your favorite acts will be coming to Singapore. As it make it customized to it's users favorite bands."

A Cozy Affair with ….

Yeah that’s Jasmine Tye, the bubbly, sweet faced teen who exhibited exceptional confidence each time she took on the stage. No surprise at all for her amazing achievement, clinching the 2^nd runner up for Singapore Idol Season 2 in 2006.

The first concert I've attended in 2010 and what an insane one! Green Day fans were treated to a feast, The Killers fans were treated to a erm....nvm....
And Muse fans certainly got what they deserved!

There was a great deal of people arriving way before 7pm but it seemed that the queue was constrained, crawling like a snail, so much so that there were still plenty of people at the queue as Saosin finished their set (And yes I was one of them). So I missed Saosin....bummer....

Band: Shirlyn & The UnXpected

With so many shows gearing up for 2010, I'm sure there's gonna be some first-timers =) Not to worry! These tips will ensure you enjoy the show to the fullest!

Golden Rules:



#1 - Check the colour and logo of your shirt to make sure you don't wear your sister's Backstreet Boys Tee to Lamb of God. It might be your last gig ever.



#2 - Wear pants with pockets large enough to fit a squirrel in case they don't allow you to bring in your camera.



#3 - Don't Drive to Gigs and you won't Drink and Drive.



#4 - Locate the nearest convenience stall so you don't have to pay $10 for a plastic cup of what have you.



#5 - Drink and eat whatever you can before you enter...once you're inside it's forbidden like Sahara. 



#6 - Don't leave the merchandise purchasing to the end of the concert. You'll regret it!



#7 - Always buy free-standing tickets, unless it's Valentine's Day.



#8 - Following rule #6, try to make yourself taller if required =)



#9 - Visit the loo as soon as you can, as many times as you want, they're not gonna start on time. 



#10 - Look out for kids who look like they'll go all Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan during the show.

Managed to catch Shern Wong at Esplanade yesterday night.

Shern Wong was performing as part of Esplanade's INSTRUMENTALly ROCK! event. Shern Wong plays instrumental rock in the likes of John Petrucci and Andy Timmons.

The few originals that he played had a strong John Petrucci influence (though not a total rip off), especially his opening track, which had riffs that sounded very similar to Petrucci's Glasgow Kiss.

In addition to his original tracks, he played 2 covers from Andy Timmons, namely Electric Gypsy and Super 70's, which happened to be 2 of my favourite tracks off Andy Timmons' discography. One notable song that he played was a cover of local guitarist, Rosli Mansor's song, as a tribute to a great local guitarist.

Though not the best guitarist around, I have to admit that Shern plays an awesome style of instrumental rock, seeing that his influences are some of my favourite guitarists. His originals also showed that he put quite a lot of effort to make the overall sound of the music move interesting since, as Cynthia mentioned, the drums were actually not just the standard rock beats but actually had a some thought put in them.

Overall a pretty enjoyable performance for a person who's a fan of instrumental guitar rock music.

Marking the first contest Live4MusiC ever organised, this has been an amazing contest to say the least! Could never have done it without the enthusiasm all our participants have for Big Night Out 2010, in particular, MUSE!
