An Interview with Lamb of God

Lamb of God founding member and bassist John Campbell took time out from rehearsing their upcoming Asia tour dates to chat with Junk about Randy Blythe, touring, and their latest and most vicious album to date, Wrath.
Junk: Hey John! Thanks for taking the time to talk to us. Getting ready to hit Asia?
John Campbell: "Definitely! This tour we've been able to go to some places that we've never been to before, and that's exciting because you kinda get sick of playing the same places all the time. We've played in Japan and Jakarta before, but we're really excited to be able to play Singapore, cause it's been on our minds for some time now."
Junk: 6 albums, a live album, and 3 DVDs- what keeps LoG going?
John: "Our drive from then is still the same as it is now, That's to write and perform our music for as many people as possible, and have those people completely blown away but what we're doing. And I think we've done a good job of continuing that- we continue to impress ourselves."
Junk: The song 'Redneck', according to Mark Morton was about Randy Blythe. Has Randy changed since the infamous punch-out in Walk With Me In Hell?
John: "*laughs* Oh man, you're asking the hard questions! Ah, I would say that change happens all the time and it's still the most difficult thing to come by. Well, there's a saying in English that I'm sure you've heard of, "the more things change the more they stay the same." And it probably has nothing to do with the situation. Um. Yeah. Life is a struggle for all of us. And I'll answer it like that."
Junk: You've toured with an awesome gallery of bands, from Mastodon to Metallica. So far, which band is your favorite to tour with?
John: "Well, you mentioned Mastodon, who are by far my favorite band to tour with. We've know those guys for a long time, and it's like we're absolutely family. And it's a great time, those guys are as fun as shit, play great music, and a tour with Mastodon is a great time. It's what you'd imagine a rock and roll tour to be, and Mastodon is doing every moment of their waking."
Junk: Thanks for all the time you've spent with us John, and before you go, What can we expect to see from the Singapore show?
John: "You can expect us to bring everything we have. It's going to be an intense, emotive experience that hopefully everyone will be able to join in. So far this tour we've been playing 1 our 15 minute sets, mostly with songs from Wrath, but you can expect songs like 'Laid to Rest' and 'Black Label' to make an appearance."
Junk: Thanks so much John, and we'll see you this April 15th!
John: "You're welcome. Looking forward to seeing you guys this middle of April!"
