Corinne Bailey Rae at the Esplanade (a review)

If you’ve read the review in the papers, you’d know I said the Corinne Bailey Rae show was sweet and sublime. But you know they say a picture paints a thousand words, right? So here’s my 7,000-word take.

Her Danelectro guitar. Sweet. Want to get it. She didn’t want to give it. Oh well. There’s always the red Gibson 335 her guitarist used.

Corinne Bailey Rae and her drummer, Luke Flowers. Sublime.

Her other guitar. Just as sweet. Wanted to get it too. But couldn’t.

Corinne playing the… whachamacallit. Zither? Table harp?

Here’s a shot of Corinne belting out Que Sera Sera. Sublime. Seriously, she’s done some nice covers (I daresay her cover of Venus As A Boy is slightly better than Bjork’s original) but this one takes the chance. All that sould, all that power. And… oh, I don’t know. You had to be there. If you weren’t, hope that the good folks at Greenhorn get her down again. Then make sure you get tickets. It’s worth it.
