Nine Inch Nails Waves Goodbye

Nine Inch Nails (NIN) last tour, and they stepped foot in Singapore for the first time. No words can describe how crazy this feeling is.

A great concert I was looking forward to, but definitely not the most smooth-sailing administratively. I believe this is the first time LAMC is trying out the priority queue system and it is totally screwed up. At least from a consumer's point it was.
Entry was supposed to be at 6pm, earlier than normal ticket holders. However, entry started late. Priority queue and normal queue were morphed almost into one and we were simply told to queue up. So.....this is the priority queue.....and it's no different from the normal queue.....great. With an already fired up mood, i clarified with one of the staff as she walked by. Apparently the queue was side-by-side, not clearly demarcated. Ok, so now there is indeed a priority queue. We were moving along the priority queue pretty smoothly...BUT normal ticket holders were already allowed to enter. So basically there is no difference. Timing was poor. Administration was poor. Period. Not happy at all.
Alright forget about the screw up. I hope it gets better for Lady Gaga and Keane.

The tour T-Shirt was cool though. Traditional simple and sleek NIN logo, just the way NIN fans will like it. The beer, Victoria Bitter, going at $10 per cup was no surprise. But there were no rewards for people who intend to buy more. No bundle deals. I would have gotten 5 but i shall only get 3.

Now let's get to NIN proper! You know the performance is gonna be an awesome one the moment you took a look at the stage. The lightings on stage were nothing short of NIN expectations and personally, the best stage I've seen in Fort Canning, comparable to even the Indoor Stadium.

Anxiously anticipating Trent and gang, the crowd was relatively quiet although they came in numbers. The venue was packed! But it sure doesn't sound like it. Before you know it, the familiar voice you've been hearing since you were a boy penetrates the air. Except this time, it is for REAL! Trent came through the cloudy dry ice and the entrance was met with cheers all around! The sound was amazing from start to finish. No signs of sound engineers spoiling the night at all.

Trent looked in awesome shape. Special mention goes to ex-Guns N Roses lead guitarist Rob Finck who really rocked the stage with his stage presence and precision playing. It does help a lot that he is extremely good looking too with his towering figure and cool haircut.
These guys just play song after song with hardly any breaks in between, which some people may claim, has too little interaction with the crowd. If you thought Dave Mustaine talked little on stage, Trent spoke less. That wasn't much of an issue for me though. The stage lights fit the flawless performance to perfection and i was crazily impressed. All the sounds were played live where possible, even if it meant every member had to play multiple instruments.
The night ended with the typical NIN encore list, Bite The Hand That Feeds, Head Like a Hole, and Hurt. And it was only during the encore when the crowd started to be pumped up and were bouncing off the ground. The feeling was extremely intense. Something some of us live for. The sound that have always sent chills down your spine, now being played right in front of you.
Ending off the night with the emotional piece, Hurt. Everyone was more than duly rewarded for what they paid for. Fantastic performance! The crowd's enthusiasm was a bit disappointing though compared to my previous experiences at Slipknot and Megadeth. Trent didn't look like he was in a very happy mood as well. But whatever it is, it was yet another professionally executed performance by NIN, and the last =)

Rock On!
