Nudge! 09 Carnival and Concert was a charity event in aid of the Straits Times Pocket Money Fund, it was put together by 4 very fine young men. I would say these guys did a splendid job, everything  from the food, venue, sponsors and especially the music, which was planned and executed perfectly. These boys proved they werent any bookish bunch, and in fact very resourceful and capable. Most importantly, all this great work was done with a very meaningful intention.

Alright let's get to the happenings of the event, we were there at about a quarter past 5 and the place was already bustling with activities, people were having tatto0s on their faces and arms, the kids especially were drawn to the carnival games and tables were already overflowing with the enticing delicacies; chicken rice, mee goreng and nasi briyani  provided by the Food Replublic, chicken teriyaki wraps by Zen Zen and ice cream and waffles by MOF. What a spread!

This joyous event with so much  fun, yummy food and great company struck some nostalgia in us, we were reminiscing about the 'good old days' (hah) and Lydia kept lamenting, " the girls are so cute, I feel so old".

Even before the on-stage music which starts only at 7.30pm, there was a group of students entertaining the crowd with very ear-pleasing acoustic tunes.

7.30pm! Concert Starts

The theme of the night was Rock and looking at the list of quality bands lined up for the night, we were expecting for some wild party time. The line up for the night was;
1) ExDee
2) Caracal
3) Vertical Rush
4) Plain Sunset
5) West Grand Boulevard

ExDee
Starting the night was none other than the organisers themselves, these boys took on the stage with absolute confidence. There weren’t any fanciful stunts from them; however a genuine passion speaks in their music. Their music was largely based on rhythm which saw the crowd grooving to their songs. Look out for them at Baybeats this year!

Caracal

They were another band comprising of very aspiring and talented youngsters., but these guys come a long way together. Their excellent technical ability and showmanship speaks for itself.  Their music was the slightly heavier of the night and the energetic audience sure loved them. These guys actually toured in China before. Awesome!

Vertical Rush
The veterans of live music, an honour to have them around and that very night was their last performance together before they decide to hit the stage again as 2 of the band members are getting married thus a change of priorities and commitment in life. So we would be waiting for them to come back with brand new melodies to rock the town.

Plain Sunset
Another very familiar name in the local scene, Plain Sunset just came back from their gig in Philippines. Their songs were relatively more mellowed compared to the adrenaline pumped bands with their rock songs.  A great band nonetheless, with remarkable chemistry.

West Grand Boulevard
The awaited band of the night. The wait was definitely worthy, looking at how the crowd go jumping and "moshing" in front of the stage. The amazing thing is that, the audience size ballooned out of a sudden while they were playing, where did they come from? West Grand Boulevard was truly outstanding, excellent entertainment value and fine quality in their technical capabilities.

Live4MusiC Golden Band of the Night:
West Grand Boulevard

Not an easy choice, with the rest of the bands possessing very commendable quality in their music of distinct styles of their own.  Once again we got to give credit to (organizers) for putting together this extremely fun and entertaining night, all for a very meaningful purpose.
