Date: 13th November, Friday
Venue:
Singapore Management University (SMU), School of Information Systems, Big Steps (Opposite the National Museum of Singapore)
Time: 7pm
Bands: Basis, EFX, Chordless, St Helens and EN-X.

The very first Starry Nite started out as a simple concert right outside House 1, back at the old SMU Bukit Timah Campus. It was a concert held literally under the stars, right before examinations; where the stress level amongst students are especially high, given the project deadlines and looming examinations. It has been receiving huge response since its inception, with the recent Starry Nite 9 being the most successful to date with a packed-out Big Steps, and high-energy bands and crowd. The event is expected to further increase in popularity. SoundFoundry has organized Starry Nite since Starry Nite 8, for the students to relax on the final day of term, and also as a showcase for the school’s bands.
Lineup:

Basis

Before you can ask, the word 'basis' has many meanings. It is used in Finance, Tax, Mathematics and Music (the bassline is sometimes called the basis); a versatile word, just as we believe our band to be.

There is no romance or mystery behind this band. 5 guys who generally don’t hang out together met through friends and decided to get together and give Starry Nite a shot. Although if we get through this without killing one another that should probably change.

With similar tastes in music and generally well-aligned ambitions juxtaposed with the desire to have fun, the equation is fairly simple. Give us a stage and we'll show you what we can do.

EFX

EFX, pronounced as ‘effects’, is best described as a band specializing in the usage of tone modifying effects to achieve a unique sound of their own.

From the simple distortion guitar to swirling keyboard synth tones, EFX hopes to use their blend of music to set you dancing to their beat.

Chordless

After toiling away for months as a Lady Gaga cover band (eh, tribute band) in SMU, SoundFoundry's 'dream team band' Chordless broke out into the rock scene in SMU with their unavoidably infectious tunes.

United by a love for Sapporo Beer, the band's latest line-up unites Elissa's over-the-top yarling with effervescent guitar work to concoct a solid record chock full of uber-memorable tunes. With standout cover tracks like "Poker Face", the music of Chordless appeals to rock fans and non-rock fans alike.

St Helens

St Helens is ready to take the stage by storm again after last term's Starry Nite. This time around we have a slight change in line-up due to one of our member's working commitments.

Nonetheless, be prepared for some adrenaline-pumping non-stop action as we belt out hardcore heavy shit onstage live! In case you’ve forgotten; St Helens represents the passion, the energy and the explosive nature of our band.

EN-X

EN-X was formed about 1 year ago as an originals music project by Alvin, the lead vocalist. It has since grown into a 5 member strong band with an album titled "Brighter Than The Sun" under its belt and has had a wealth of performing experience, including playing on Mediacorp Channel 5's Live and Loaded Programme as the industry pick by radio DJ's The Muttons from Perfect 10 98.7fm, and numerous events and shows for the National Arts Council all over the island in conjunction with Noise Singapore.
