Well it wasn't too long ago when we were writing about how crazy NUS students were at Timbre MusicFest. I guess it just gets better! SMU's crazier!

Starry Nite X, an event organised BY the students, WITH the students, FOR the students. Organised every semester to celebrate the end of the semester (and the start of exams...awwww). The support for the event is truly awesome. The place was packed from the 1st set and everyone has a beer in hand. Can't go wrong when that happens.

First up was Basis, performing for the first time at Starry Nite. And they did a fantastic job rocking up the crowd with tunes from Radiohead, Incubus etc!

Next up, an all-star line-up comprising of the organizers themselves, Chordless! Definitely lived up to their expectations and we could all see a lot of love for the president of Sound Foundry who was on Bass and took the mic on Blink 182's All The Small Things! Work Sucks I know....

There was even a tribute to Michael Jackson by a SMU King of Pop, which was really good. Unfortunately we didn't manage to capture his dance on video =(

EFX was up next and you could tell straight away how they got their name. The guitarist has 3 seemingly custom-shopped guitars and just look at his effects....a 3 metre chain of them....must have weighed at least 30kg! And not to forget the bassist who also has a rig of his own. The guitarist definitely lives up to his rig, easily the best guitarist of the night.

And then some Hard Rock to spice up the already insane evening! St Helens (Yep they share the same vocalist as Basis =)). Now this is the only type of music that can generate a mosh pit! A mosh pit at an SMU gig, thats right, absolutely insane! With stuff like Metallica's Enter Sandman and Velvet Revolver's Slither! Just perfect!

And to end off the night...as they always say, save the best for last. Featured in the Live n Loaded series, EN-X! They will be releasing an album next week so do look out for that! Definitely the most comfortable looking band on stage that night and the only band that brought forward an original composition. Fantastic frontman, fantastic band!
My only qualms that night? There was way toooo muchhh Lady Gaga.....but that's just me =D
