"Most bands they tend to sound like, we want to be the best. It's not about being the best, it's about being what you're capable of, and what you can achieve so if you go to the full extent to what u want to achieve, definitely you can go way further than that." - Shariq, The Wreckage Vocalist

Main Influences:

Despised Icon, Behemoth etc

Line-Up:
- Faiz (Drummer)
- Shariq (Vocals)
- Jasman (Guitar)
- Wolly (Bass)
- Julian (Guitar)
- Erick (Stand-in Guitar)

Live4MusiC: What do you guys sound like?

Faiz: We don't sound like anything local, we make an effort to step out of the Singapore sound, but our influences would be Hatebreed, Behemoth etc.

Live4MusiC: So what's the new album about?

Faiz: It's about this guy with all these hatred and anger of whatever happened to him in the past. He is out there to unleash hell. There's a storyline in the album and it's written by Shariq. The vocalist handles all the lyrics.

Live4MusiC: So how do you guys find the local metal scene so far?

Julian: The metal scene is very segregated. There's like this group and this crew and this crew and they're kinda dissing each other. That's something that we don't like about the Singapore metal scene. Other than that, I think everyone is doing their own think and everyone is trying to make their own gigs and stuff like that. So we're trying to break out of this whole viscious circle and try not to be this typical local band.

Live4MusiC: Any challenges you guys are facing so far?

Faiz: There's a lot. External, internal, it's like setting up a company

Live4MusiC: Any advice that maybe other bands can learn from?

Shariq: Most bands they tend to sound like, we want to be the best. It's not about being the best, it's about being what you're capable of, and what you can achieve so if you go to the full extent to what u want to achieve, definitely you can go way further than that. For us we started off listening to bands that were quite slow and started slow, but after listening to something, why not try something like that. I know i can't do it but along the way, in a few years time, I might achieve it. So it's about setting your targets and setting your goals and achieving it. It's not about, oh it's my band, i want to be better than the other band. It's not like that. You have to sound yourself.

Live4MusiC: So what's the biggest gig you guys have played so far?

Shariq: In Bangkok. We had a crowd of 2,000 people.

Live4MusiC: What do you guys think of the acts that are coming into Singapore so far?

Shariq: Previously, to have major bands coming to Singapore, death metal bands, heavy metal bands, were like never going to happen. But Singapore is opening up.

Live4MusiC: If there's one band you want to see in Singapore what would it be?

The Wreckage: Behemoth.

Live4MusiC: Any Shoutouts?

Julian: Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this gig all the organizers. It's good to be here to play among all the other good bands and have this exposure. And thanks to everyone who has been helping us for the past few months making the album possible. You guys have been a great help. Thanks!

Here's the detailed interview on video for those interested! =)
