Lamb Of God Singer To Run For President (UG)

By Yuda

Lamb Of God frontman Randy Blythe has announced that he will make a bid to become President.

In an extraordinary rambling blog post, Blythe says the present candidates lack "balls", before making an unusual promise for when he is finally sworn in:

"My first act as President of the United States will to be shot. That’s right, SHOT. With a high-powered assault rifle. Immediately after taking the oath of office, I will be escorted about twenty yards away and be shot publicly in a non-lethal area of my body by a highly trained Navy SEAL sniper. It will hurt like f--k."

Blythe says he will do this because he doesn't expect anyone in the armed forces to do anything he wouldn't.

"Me being shot will be broadcast live world-wide via satellite, with no bleeping out of the incredible string of curse words I will undoubtedly let fly with. I will be required to walk/limp/crawl on my own power a minimum of 50 yards through the mud to an ambulance that will take me away to patch me up. If I can’t make it on my own, I’m not tough enough to be your President.

"After all the nations in the entire world witness America’s new President, an insane looking heavily tattooed freak, getting shot ON HIS OWN ORDER as soon as he takes office, then crawling all bloody to an ambulance, cussing the whole way and screaming pure hate in a monstrous voice tortured by years of touring and Marlboro Reds, they will think twice before f--king with us," he adds.

Among his impressive list of promises are to:

- Take 13 weeks of Marine Corps training
- Kill an enemy prisoners in hand-to-hand combat
- Kill the first enemy of any war
- Change the rules of engagement so troops can shoot before the enemy strikes
- Kick some a--
- Drink beer
- Get laid
- Bless America

Blythe appears to focus on foreign policy rather than discuss economic issues, suggesting he may be better suited for the role of Secretary of State.

His slogan? "F--k the dumb s--t. Let's get real here."

Scene Stealer -- Lamb of God

By Yuda

The “pure American metal” quintet surprised the hell out of everybody when they got signed on by upper-echelon label Epic Records about six years ago. One of the most successful and revolutionary heavy metal bands to have stomped onto the music scene, Lamb of God should probably be tooting their own horn and throwing smirks at the mainstream music scene, but they’re not. Bassist John Campbell speaks to us about keeping it real.

What does “pure American metal” sound like?
It sounds just like it is—a cool tagline.

Sixteen years is a long time. How do you guys keep it together, and more importantly, how did things get so big?
We’ve been really lucky, for one. We’ve been successful without having to compromise. We never really expected any success; it’s just been a really smooth ride, and it keeps getting better. The main reason why we’re still together and still good at what we do is definitely because we absolutely love what we’re doing.

We’ve heard that you guys can get quite “extreme”. Exactly how extreme are you?
We’re pretty normal people, really. Except, maybe we have some extreme drinking habits. It’s more our music and our performances that are extreme. When we’re out there performing, we give a lot.

Describe your best gig.
Without a doubt, touring with Metallica at Madison Square Garden was the best experience ever. But in 1998, we did this gig in Ohio at a place called Skatopia, which is a kind of a skate park. We played on a piece of scaffolding that was like, three storys up in the air, and below us was an empty pool and kids were skating. There were about eight people present and we didn’t get paid. But it was awesome.

What is the most trying thing about touring?
When we’re on the road, sleeping on top of one another and going through day after day away from our wives and children, it can get pretty tough. When our families are in trouble, we’re on the other side of the planet and there’s nothing we can do to help.

What’s the recipe for a good, thrashy song?
Add blistering fast riffs, keep it simple and interesting and sing about important things. An example of a good song is “Contractor.” It’s super crazy and super fast.

What would you advise bands that want to make it as big as you?
Seriously, if you want to be a good band, you’ve got to practice. And make sure you’re doing what you love. If all you want is success, you might not ever get it.

Say, Lamb of God was a piece of metal. What metal would you be?
We’d be steel, buried deep in the earth at Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is a steel mine so we’d be the root of all metal.—Hidayah Salamat I-S Magazine

An Interview with Lamb of God

By Yuda

Lamb of God founding member and bassist John Campbell took time out from rehearsing their upcoming Asia tour dates to chat with Junk about Randy Blythe, touring, and their latest and most vicious album to date, Wrath.

Junk: Hey John! Thanks for taking the time to talk to us. Getting ready to hit Asia?

John Campbell: "Definitely! This tour we've been able to go to some places that we've never been to before, and that's exciting because you kinda get sick of playing the same places all the time. We've played in Japan and Jakarta before, but we're really excited to be able to play Singapore, cause it's been on our minds for some time now."

Junk: 6 albums, a live album, and 3 DVDs- what keeps LoG going?

John: "Our drive from then is still the same as it is now, That's to write and perform our music for as many people as possible, and have those people completely blown away but what we're doing. And I think we've done a good job of continuing that- we continue to impress ourselves."

Junk: The song 'Redneck', according to Mark Morton was about Randy Blythe. Has Randy changed since the infamous punch-out in Walk With Me In Hell?

John: "*laughs* Oh man, you're asking the hard questions! Ah, I would say that change happens all the time and it's still the most difficult thing to come by. Well, there's a saying in English that I'm sure you've heard of, "the more things change the more they stay the same." And it probably has nothing to do with the situation. Um. Yeah. Life is a struggle for all of us. And I'll answer it like that."

Junk: You've toured with an awesome gallery of bands, from Mastodon to Metallica. So far, which band is your favorite to tour with?

John: "Well, you mentioned Mastodon, who are by far my favorite band to tour with. We've know those guys for a long time, and it's like we're absolutely family. And it's a great time, those guys are as fun as shit, play great music, and a tour with Mastodon is a great time. It's what you'd imagine a rock and roll tour to be, and Mastodon is doing every moment of their waking."

Junk: Thanks for all the time you've spent with us John, and before you go, What can we expect to see from the Singapore show?

John: "You can expect us to bring everything we have. It's going to be an intense, emotive experience that hopefully everyone will be able to join in. So far this tour we've been playing 1 our 15 minute sets, mostly with songs from Wrath, but you can expect songs like 'Laid to Rest' and 'Black Label' to make an appearance."

Junk: Thanks so much John, and we'll see you this April 15th!

John: "You're welcome. Looking forward to seeing you guys this middle of April!"

Lamb Of God To Record Documentary in Singapore

By Yuda

A film crew will go out on the road with Lamb Of God to capture life on the road with the Virginian hellraisers! Get Lamb Of God tickets here!

Lamb Of God drummer Chris Adler has confirmed that the band will be recording their very own road movie in a recent interview with Noisecreep.

Due to bring their ‘Wrath’ world tour to the UK in February, Adler has said of the project: “Since we started touring for this cycle in December 2008, we’ve basically gone around the world twice, and in this next year we will again — to China, Russia, South America. We’ve done DVDs in the past, with concerts and behind the scenes. This time, we will bring a film crew on these runs with us, since we will be in such bizarre places like Singapore, where they don’t even sell our records, but 10,000 kids will still show up. We want to document this music and how what we do crosses the language and commerce barriers. Hopefully, we will find some trouble along, and if someone gets in jail, it won’t be too much trouble to get him out. It’ll probably be Randy!”

In related LOG news, Adler is also currently in the studio with This Or The Apocalypse.
