Your Guide to Attending a Gig in Singapore (Singapore Indoor Stadium version)

By Yuda
With so many shows gearing up for 2010, I'm sure there's gonna be some first-timers =) Not to worry! These tips will ensure you enjoy the show to the fullest!

Golden Rules:

#1 - Check the colour and logo of your shirt to make sure you don't wear your sister's Backstreet Boys Tee to Lamb of God. It might be your last gig ever.

#2 - Wear pants with pockets large enough to fit a squirrel in case they don't allow you to bring in your camera.

#3 - Don't Drive to Gigs and you won't Drink and Drive.

#4 - Locate the nearest convenience stall so you don't have to pay $10 for a plastic cup of what have you.

#5 - Drink and eat whatever you can before you enter...once you're inside it's forbidden like Sahara.

#6 - Don't leave the merchandise purchasing to the end of the concert. You'll regret it!

#7 - Always buy free-standing tickets, unless it's Valentine's Day.

#8 - Following rule #6, try to make yourself taller if required =)

#9 - Visit the loo as soon as you can, as many times as you want, they're not gonna start on time.

#10 - Look out for kids who look like they'll go all Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan during the show.

These are my 10 rules! What's yours? =)

And when we said  "Blast", we literally meant "Blast!" During Day 1 of our Xmas Music Fest, a car actually caught fire along Armenian Street, seeing fire rescuers putting out the flames and leaving the poor car smoking on Xmas Eve! What a way to start our 3-day gig!

By Yuda

Bands that played at Maska Bar on Boxing Day
  • Paranoid Vision

  • Zodiac

  • Elyzia

  • A 3day christmas gig was held at Maska from Christmas Eve til Boxing Day.Went to shoot on Boxing Day.Thanks to Yuda of Live4Music for the invite to shoot this gig and paying for my cab fare.

Saw a few familiar faces like the guys from Paranoid Vision and friends from Fast Forward to Friday like Tawei and Han Liang. The other 2bands playing were chinese bands but kinda like Elyzia, very Hard Rock and Metal influenced kind of chinese Rock band.Paranoid Vision did a good set as well, and they did 2 acoustic songs as well.

Christmas and christmas eve was just plain boring since I wasn't at any parties this year but then Boxing Day was good,at least I get to enjoy music on my Boxing Day. Saturday night.

Elyzia is a rock band formed on 27th Sep 08 writing and playing their own originals. Music style inclines towards pop, rock and metal. Our songs talk about life & death, love & hate, black & white.

With a motley crew and myriad goals, they have a common ground and that is our burning love for music is ready to take on the world and they strive with their best efforts to leave their giant $!&*%@ footprints in the pages of music history!

Live4MusiC Xmas Music Fest Day 2 (Feat: GagaRara, LGF, Catalogue V)

By Live4MusiC
Catalogue V (12am)

Focusing on a modern mainstream sound but not sticking to a particular pop-feel,Catalogue:V fuses elements of modern and vintage tunes coupled with catchy choruses. From totally contrasting backgrounds, the four instrumentalists collaborated to produce a fresh flavor of Disco, Funk, Jazz and Rock to compliment Razil's eccentrically simple melodies and words.Elastically adaptable,Catalogue:V is a definite "must-hear". A probable new Genre all together, Skitzo Pop!!!

Taking influences from Jamiroquai, U2, The Killers and various dance orientated music such as Electro and Trance. You can expect an evening of sing alongs and get up beats that you can rave to.

It all began almost by chance, Razil and Alfredo found each other via a local music forum and you can say everything else snowballed from there.

Live4MusiC Xmas Music Fest Day 1 (Feat: Sixology, Swiftblade, Ridge)

By Yuda
Ridge (11pm)

Ridge was formed in 2006 when Simon Lai(guitars) met Aqram(vocals), Ken(drums) and Danks(Guitars) at the School of Rock competition. They decided to do something together and got Sultan(bass) to head for a jamm session and see where the journey would take them. With that one practice session everyone clicked well and decided to take it a further step by joining competitions. They wanted to join a competition to put their band to a test and emerged 1st runner-ups for JamX competition which they only had 3 weeks to plan. They also joined bigger and more renowned competitions and clinched well deserved prizes.

As time went by, Ridge was gigging
immensely, writing, practicing and even had a few-line up changes with Danks leaving, and introducing Shaun Ng(keys and vocals) and Ben Chua(guitars) in. Ridge, although largely Rock, has been experimenting lately with different sounds and genres and will showcase it to its loyal fans who have been waiting for them and also to any music lover who will definitely dig this groovy rockers. This is one band worth watching. This is Ridge.
