Muse To Release New Album In Fall 2012 (UG)
By Yuda
Muse are working on their new album and say it should be released by fall 2012.
Manager Anthony Addis told Billboard about the album progress:
"They've now gone into the recording studio," Addis said. "The plan is to do it all in London...Hopefully, [the album] might come out October next year. They've written a lot of material already but you don't know how it's going to gel between them all. They write constantly. They write on the road, so before or after a gig they'll write nearly every night. It's a serious process, but you don't know how it's going to turn out [until] you start practicing it together, because everybody's done it individually."
Can Muse really build on their past successes, considering how they've been at the top of the live-music game for so long? Addis thinks they have room for improvement in America, but the economy still isn't in their favour.
"We did a joint headline show with Rage Against The Machine in L.A. at the 90,000-capacity Memorial Coliseum and there were about 55,000 people there," Addis said. "People haven't got the money anymore. I think it's worldwide. I think it's just hitting into the U.K. now, as you can see with retail."
The manager says they have a tight strategy for making sure the fans come back next time. The secret, he says, is to mix a great show with a little science.
"You've got to give them an experience at the right price. We've increased worldwide [ticket sales] by 40% each time. And that's how we increase the fan base, because they've enjoyed it as a spectacle.
"Every night after the show we have an analysis of what went down right and what didn't, and all of that is logged in into a database. We know what happened in every show and every city going back all the years. If a number didn't go down well, then it will not appear in the set next time."
Muse recently waved goodbye to their 2001 album "Origin Of Symmetry" at the Reading And Leeds festivals in the UK. They played the modern classic from start to finish to celebrate its 10th anniversary, but also to draw a line under their past.- Ultimate-Guitar
Muse Will Begin Recording New Album In September
By Yuda
Muse bassist Chris Wolstenholme says the band will begin recording their new album as soon as September, after headlining the Reading and Leedsfestivals in the UK.
Speaking to Radio 1 (via Gigwise), Wolstenholme said:
"September and October, that's when we're going to get into
the studio to start writing the new album … We're always going to
be the kind of band that want to get out and play
live.
"As the years go on there's that temptation to cut the touring down less and less but we still love playing live. I can't ever imagine we'll be the kind of band that cut the touring down significantly."
The statement will be a relief to Muse fans, who might have been concerned that frontman Matt Bellamy’s newborn baby with Kate Hudson could put a stop to their relentless touring schedule.
Meanwhile, the band recently offered a competition for their fans to design a t-shirt, with the winner getting VIP tickets to the Reading and Leeds festivals. Melody Deyerle won with her fantastic Space Invaders style tee, which you can see here.

By Yuda

Muse "Sell Soul" for 'Twilight' Exposure
By Yuda
Forget Team Edward or Team Jacob. Muse might not even be on Team Twilight. According to bassist Chris Wolstenholme, the only reason Muse contributed songs to all three Twilight soundtracks was to expand their fan base in the States, at any cost.
"I'm not sure how cool it is to be on those kind of things but
sometimes you've just got to get your music out there in
different ways," he admitted to the BBC.
"You have to take every opportunity you get [in America] and
sometimes you have to sell your soul."
Wolstenholme also expressed frustration about the back-and-forth between the band and the studio about how the song would be used in the film. "When we were in the studio writing it, one minute they said they wanted to use it in the end credits, then they said they wanted to use it in another scene," said the bassist, who admitted to the BBC that he's only watched the first film in the Twilight series. "Then it was another scene, and in the end we were like, 'Do what you want with it, we don't care any more.'"
There's no doubting the level of exposure that a Twilightappearance can garner: The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Soundtrack, whose lead single was Muse's "Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)," debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, selling 144,000 copies in its first week, while the film itself raked in $175.3 million over its first six days in U.S. theaters.
In the past year, Muse has reached arena-filling status in the States. "It was great to finally take over the full production that we toured with in Europe," Wolstenholme said. "For a long time America fell by the wayside and nothing was really happening at all and we were having problems with our record company over there."

Muse: 'Twilight' Single Has 'Cheesy Love Sentiment'
By Yuda
British rockers Muse have released "Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)," the lead single fromThe Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack, out June 8, and if it sounds emotionally arresting and dramatic, well, there's good reason: singer/guitarist Matt Bellamy wrote the anthemic track after a breakup with his girlfriend.
"It was a song looking right back on that moment that you first
get with someone and everything feels like its going to go on
forever," he told BBC Radio 1, which debuted the track Monday.
"[It has a] kind of like a cheesy love sentiment."

"The Twilight people contacted us and were very keen to get a song for their film and I thought 'Why not?' " Bellamy added. "I might as well just get it out there because this song represents a bit of a difficult period for me in my life."
"Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)" is classic Muse: arena-filling guitars, hammering rhythms, and Bellamy's operatic vocals. Channeling classic rockers Queen, the trio build the track to big crescendo around a series of piano movements: "Our hearts combined like a neutron star collision / We told each other with no trace of fear that / Our love would be forever / And if we die, we die together," sings Bellamy."Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)" is available now atiTunes and Amazon. In addition to the former SPIN cover band Muse, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack features plenty other indie rock stars: Beck and Bat for Lashes (doing a duet), Metric, Muse, the Dead Weather, Florence & the Machine, Fanfarlo, Vampire Weekend, and Band of Horses all recorded original tracks for the upcoming third film in the vampire series. Muse slam their label over free music streaming stance
By Yuda
Muse bassist Chris
Wolstenholmehas revealed his band's
disappointment in their record label's decision to stop licensing
acts on the company's roster for free streaming services such
as Spotify and We 7.
Earlier this month Warner Music CEO
Edgar Bromfman announced that none of the label’s artists' future
releases would be
licensed to the services, as "free streaming services are clearly
not positive for the industry" - although already-available back
catalogues would remain.
The Devon band,
who are one of the biggest acts
on Warner
Music – also home
to REM and Red
Hot Chili Peppers -
argued that the decision will take their music, and the music of
their labelmates, away from the ears of potential
fans.
Wolstenholme told BBC
Newsbeat, "It’s like taking your song off the radio,
isn’t it? The corporations are setting the rules on these things
because they’re clutching at straws. They’ve lost so much money
on record sales because of the internet."
He added, "As far as bands are concerned, you just want
people to hear your music whichever way they can."

Relive Big Night Out 2010!
By Yuda
The first concert I've attended in 2010 and what an insane one! Green Day fans were treated to a feast, The Killers fans were treated to a erm....nvm....
And Muse fans certainly got what they deserved!
There was a great deal of people arriving way before 7pm but it seemed that the queue was constrained, crawling like a snail, so much so that there were still plenty of people at the queue as Saosin finished their set (And yes I was one of them). So I missed Saosin....bummer....
