Scott Weiland Accused Of Using Backing Tracks

By Live4MusiC

Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland is being accused of using backing tracks at live shows, after he fell off a stage and landed heavily – without missing a note.

The band were performing in Cincinatti when the incident took place. Weiland lost his footing, stumbled and fell clumsily, while carrying a microphone in one hand and a megaphone in the other.

Despite the tumble, his voice was heard to continue the song – he wasn’t singing at the precise moment he fell, but when the moment came to resume he didn’t sound short of breath, out of tune or in any way flustered.

Watch the video below - Weiland falls around 1m 30s.

Later in the same show, several fans noted that a backing track seemed to jump. The band haven’t commented on the suggestions of using pre-recorded material.

Commentator Skwerl of Antiquiet says: "Scott took a really hard spill into a hole during Crackerman. A really bad one. He’s down there for a while as the crew tries to help him out – and yet the vocal performance doesn’t falter in the slightest."

Eyewitness Lisa Biello reports: "Later, during another song, it was pointed out to me that ‘the CD is skipping.’ Truth be told, I did hear something ‘slip’, something in the background, like the drummer had screwed up and missed a beat or two. It was definitely obvious, yet the band kept going like nothing happened."

Discussing Weiland’s fall, which she admits she didn’t see, Biello says: "I fall down a lot. When I do, there’s some form of accompanying audio - usually an expletive but almost always a grunt, groan or giggle or two. But not Scott Weiland.

EXCLUSIVE: Stone Temple Pilots Debut New Song!

By Yuda

"We know what Stone Temple Pilots sounds like -- we have a sonic blueprint," bassist Robert DeLeo recently told SPIN.com. He's right. On May 25, the Los Angeles alt-rockers will release Stone Temple Pilots, their first album in nearly a decade, and they sound as vital as ever: album gem "Take a Load Off" is part hard rock, part melodic pop, and all STP. Listen to SPIN.com's exclusive stream below!

The quartet -- frontman Scott Weiland, guitarist Dean DeLeo, bassist Robert DeLeo, and drummer Eric Kretz -- is the subject of SPIN's June cover story, on newsstands May 27. In his first assignment for SPIN, The Adderall Diaries author Stephen Elliott chronicles the comeback of a band, who -- despite a very delicate touring situation, in which Weiland is separated from the other three members -- have managed to thrive and record one of the best albums of their career.

STP's tour -- which kicked off with a bang at SXSW, where the band performed with Doors guitarist Robby Krieger -- continues into the summer. See their complete itinerary here.

You can stream the track from this location.

Stone Temple Pilots Finish Mastering New Album

By Yuda

Entertainment reporter Nicole Brown conducted a short interview with Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland on the blue carpet of the "Viva Elvis" show in Las Vegas on February 19, 2010.Scott spoke about what he's working on and gives his best Elvis impersonation.

Regarding the current activities in the Stone Temple Pilots camp,Weiland said, "[We] just finished mastering our new album. And we'll be playing South By Southwest in March, with a few more dates. And then we go to Europe to play all the big festival in the early summer. [Then we'll] come back with our own festival we're putting together."

Stone Temple Pilots will release their yet-to-be-titled sixth studio album in May, according to a recent interview posted at Spin.com. The set will be the group's first collection of all-new material since 2001's "Shangri-La-Dee-Da", which was followed by a seven-year hiatus that ended in 2008 with a six-month reunion tour. Bassist Robert DeLeo said about the new disc, "Fans are going get a great STP record. We know what STP sounds like — we have a sonic blueprint. It's always worked for me to put myself in the ears of the listener. I ask myself, 'What kind of STP record would I want to hear?' The answer is a really cohesive record with songs that are going to be lasting."

DeLeo also revealed a couple of song titles, including "Between The Lines" and "Huckleberry Crumble".

The bassist added that the CD was recorded in three studios, one at his home, one belonging to drummer Eric Kretz, and one co-owned by Scott Weiland, who recorded most of the vocals separately from the group.

When asked if Weiland's "sobriety" affected the recording process, guitarist Dean DeLeo replied, "Sobriety? What the fuck are you talking about? Scott does what he does."
